Believing in the youth and building a sustainable future

Montreal and Québec now makes the headlines for the student movement, a strong call by the youth to their deputies for more social justice. Here’s an article in the New York Times explaining the movement.

We share the same values and will support, in any ways possible, the youth movement, also called the “Printemps Érable”.

We are not for free trade, but fair trade instead.

Against making capital king and its consequences : global financial crisis, economic crisis brought by lack of oversight and not taking into account stakeholders, relocations, strikes, but for a local sound economic system instead.

Against fossil energy but betting on renewable energy instead.

Against restreint of civil liberties, and for individual liberties and social justice instead.

Mentoring in youth centers

For the past two weeks, we’ve given to a local community “Côte-De-Neiges” through a program called “Démasques Ton Quartier”. The goal of the project is to give kids and teenagers new ways to express themselves, get them to be more curious about their environment and ask questions, and as a result promote communication and build a stronger society.

The Triple Bottom Line: Sustainable Growth for businesses

the triple bottom line with sustainable growth

SustainableBizDesign has been started just recently, and it’s a new service to deliver and host websites, for sole business owners and small businesses. In the same way that they need at the beginning business cards to kickstart their business, we’re offering an all-included service, which guarantees a beautiful online presence.

It’s a for-profit project, and at the same time, the service is rooted in sustainability, meaning it wants to be socially responsable and green. What? Why? How? Did we fall on our head? Why technology, entrepreneurship, and mix it with “New Age” stuff? Those are supposed to be two different worlds.

Projects making a difference: OpenNorth, Recommerce Solutions

Starting a business is extremely hard, even more so when your goals are beyond pure profit. On a pure entrepreneurship level, you have to compete with the established companies, which have large amounts of resources to maintain their market lead and discourage any new entrants; you have to have excellent marketing to get attention in the market; plus at the same time, organize operations and the support functions of the business. That’s to be added to the community, social and environmental goals that you are trying to achieve as well. That’s why we want to give exposure today to two projects making a difference.

Student spring in Quebec and the case for sustainable practices

There is currently social unrest in Quebec, Canada, where students and high school students are demanding more accessible education, while the government stubbornly replies the country can’t afford the low tuition fees currently offered to students, to be increased +75% in the upcoming years.

Beyond the political debate, it’s inspiring to see youth actively involved in their future. It’s clear that if we have to live harmoniously in a society, we have to adopt sustainable practices. Having only financial targets and deciding without involving stakeholders is a recipe for social discourse, with the price far greater than you would have paid if sustainable practices were followed in the beginning. It is now estimated that the price of the student strike is now far beyond the hike in tuition fees.

How does the design process works at SustainableBizDesign?

In a few words: it’s simple, smart, and efficient!

After ordering, the SustainableBizDesign team will work immediately, as soon as we get all the details, such as the logo file, images, business description as well as payment details.

As stated on the main website, we focus on sole business owners, though we can also accomodate small businesses, and our main focus is to encourage any visitor to contact you.

We work with pre-designed elements, such as buttons, titles, tables, that we’ve archived throughout the years, and with our experience and expert eye, we can put together quickly a website perfect for your business, with the right colours, the right layout, and making sure that it presents well your business.

The most important elements are: your logo, your tagline, business description including years of experience and trade affiliations, service description, and of course phone number and business adress. We also include a map and a contact form so people can easily contact you.

Here’s a website perfect for a sole business owner who would sell one product/service:

How sustainable is SustainableBizDesign anyway?

We’ve been asked recently what specific steps makes us a socially responsible and green business. We’re working on a public dashboard which would help anyone visualize the steps we take everyday, but meanwhile, here are the initiatives we enforce and develop every day:
